Having just heard the sad news about the death aged 64 of Malcolm McLaren from cancer, I would like to pay tribute.
“Rock and roll doesn't necessarily mean a band. It doesn't mean a singer, and it doesn't mean a lyric, really. It's that question of trying to be immortal.”
Love or loathe him, Malcolm was a pioneer whose creative vision inspired me to want to make clothes.
I followed almost blindly from Sex Pistols through Buffalo Girls, Double Dutch, Bow Wow Wow and Adam Ant together with Vivienne Westwood he created a soundtrack and fashion that accompanied me through teenage years to this day.
For me he posed the question, ‘Why Not’ and his innovation in the world of pop culture and fashion will continue to fascinate and influence me.
To quote the man himself,
