The label here tells us this is a mid '80s example of French Connection, this particular pastel check fabric actually appeared in other designs at the time. 
The jacket is actually reversible, 100% Indian cotton it's lightweight and the plain side is almost off white - there's a small amount of discolouration on the left hem as pictured and a small mark on the back of the right cuff.
The checked side is in a wonderful combination of pastel shades making a small tartan style check, the yoke of which is offset at an angle.
Both cuffs had frayed and so I found a fabric in my stash that almost matched the check and certainly complimented the colours. I've used this to make a binding on each cuff and again on the pocket edges of the checked side to give some continuity - it didn't work as well on the plain reverse.
The front zipper is in good working order and there is another small zip pocket on the plain side upper chest.
It really is a lovely example of that cool '80s design that French Connection brought us and continue to do with their design led contemporary clothing.
