I spied this bumble bee duvet cover in a thrift store recently and knew it would make a gorgeous dress. The issue though is that the poly cotton fabric is quite thin and so a little see through. Wonderful for a warm summers day or could be worn with leggings under. Either way I persevered as I saw the dress potential. There are also a couple of faint marks in the fabric which I've highlighted in photos.
My job is keeping vintage fabrics alive and so this deserved it's second chance, flaws and all. The fabric is printed with delicate honey bees throughout and the reverse of the duvet had a grey honeycomb print which I've utilised in the front panel, facing and tie belt.
The three quarter sleeves are elasticated at the cuff and there is elastication across the chest giving a fit that measures between aUK 12-14
I hope this cute frock will find its way to a bumble bee lover somewhere soon.
