This was far too cute to send to landfill - it was also the repair that kept on giving!
The boat style neckline and armholes have lilac bias binding attached to prevent further fraying. Where fraying was worse along the lower edges and side splits I have blanket stitched over in yellow thread. There are four applique patches over tears in the original fabric - I've left these with raw edges to add some texture. Some of the button holes needed rebinding as well as a patch on the front button placket.
The buttons themselves have a distinctive cracked surface which I believe is original - not in this instance caused by aeging.
Buttoning fully down the front, the top has two handy pocket - the right partly obscured by the patchwork heart but still serviceable.
As you can tell, this really was a labour of love. Missfit is more than a business, it is a mission to save as much vintage clothing from landfill as is possible and I could see the beautiful potential in this little top - I hope you can too.
