This is a zero waste dress. Made from a child's duvet cover using the subtraction cutting method, this will be a true one-off design.
The cover was double sided and I have utilised both in the dress. It features prancing purple unicorns and a deep purple starry night. The dress is fully lined in a pale lilac polyester blend.
With no fastenings, the dress slips on overhead with a vest top style neckline and wide straps. There are however, two vintage purple buttons at the points of the fabric along with loops to which these can be fastened to create a variety of shapes with the body of the dress.
Another way to wear is to push the extended points of fabric inside so that they form deep pockets - another great look and practical way to wear the dress.
I raised the hem to the inner lining to form a parachute style, adding more structure to the shape which again, can be manipulated.
This is a dress for life, a piece of design to treasure. Every part of it has been saved from landfill, a truly sustainable style.
