I'm always delighted to discover one of Horrockses beautiful designer dresses in my stock and this one is in excellent condition.
Famously, Horrockses dresses were a favourite of the Queen and Princess Margaret along with other Royals, hence the Royal seal of approval in the label (By Appointments to HM the Queen Dressmakers). They were well known for their fabulous fifties frocks with wonderful kodachrome prints and full skirts. This dress is a little later dating from the early sixties but still has a great woven design - wavy diagonal lines in black, white and shades of grey wander down the dress.
It's a nice weight, definitely a polyester mix although no fabric content is shown in the labelling. Long sleeved, the neck is round with a rolled edge and the dress fastens at the back with its original zipper in good order. It is unlined but has been nicely tailored in panels to flatter the figure. Quite demure in its design but with an eye-catching pattern that stands it out as a day dress for all occasions.
