Here was a dress that needed to be saved however, I did have to put a little work in first. The dress arrived minus it's buttons which, appear to have originally been red but I found these vintage black buttons which add great contrast to the design.
The entire dress is boldly patterned in geometric zig zags and diamonds in a red, black and white colour sheme. Short sleeved, the dress fastens part way down the front with four large black vintage buttons. There is some shaping at the bust but otherwise the dress has a gentle A line shape which is cinched in at the waist by a matching belt.
Another fix I had to make was to the top stitching on the button placket and collar which had come undone. Apart from that, the dress has a few faded stains at the mid back, right chest and neck edge and part way down the front skirt and the right underarm. Due to the business of the pattern, these marks aren't immediately noticeable and I did feel the dress was worth saving - it has so much going for it, not least the wonderful 1960's St Michael label which gives a mark of quality.
The mending on this dress became a labour of love and is not reflected in the price which is lower due to the marks I can't remove. I will just be happy to see it go to a new home as it deserves a second chance.
