This is a handmade dress that has seen some wear and repair. It was simply far too attractive a piece to let it go for rework and so I've done my best to enhance its style so that it can live on in another wardrobe.
Firstly, there was an iron burn on the right collar, to cover I've hand embroidered a love heart in brown - if you can't disguise the war wounds, make them part of the appeal. There were several pulls which I've either trimmed or tucked through but no visible stains or tears. The dress had been repaired along the hemline and cuffs with hand stitching. I've ensured this is secure but again, left in place as it's part of the dress history - it was loved and cared for enough to keep in good repair.
My job is primarily to keep alive these beautiful vintage dresses from a bye-gone age. I'm hoping someone else can see the joy this dress still holds.
