Oh my, here is a true vintage dress that has been beautifully hand made to perfection.
I'm taking a wild guess here, but it may even have been fashioned from curtain fabric - the texture is similar to that used for curtains in the 1960s (I know because we had them ourselves). It is therefore textured and very durable and as it contains polyester the colours haven't faded one bit.
The dress has a white poly/nylon collar and cuffs edged with fine lace and a small lapel collar that hooks together with a knotted bow. The dress fastens at the front with its original zipper, in good working order. There is shaping at the bust and darts front and back give a flattering bodice. There is a yoke at the back and front which adds to the quirky design of this piece and a cute half belt with pale pink buttons finishing the back waist.
The long sleeves have tailoring at the elbow and the hem has been turned up and then finished with a further piece of fabric to cover, a traditional tailoring method that weights the hem and ensures a professional look to your frock.
This dress has undoubtably had a lot of care and attention given to its design and making as well as the fabric choice. Just imaging the history this little frock has created and then picture what more it has to give.
