I love a vintage treasure but hunting them down isn't easy. This gorgeous wrap top is a truly wonderful find.
Bearing the Neatawear label, which was the Topshop of it's day set up by Joan and Sydney Burstein, 'setting the standard for being young and different'. Sadly they overstretched themselves and went bust in 1968. From that though they recovered, opening Browns and going on to discover huge fashion talents, most notably John Galliano.
This top could be worn separately as a wrap top or over something else like a wrap cardigan, however you choose to wear it you won't fail to stand out. As simple as the style is it is nicely tailored, the sleeves are perfectly set in and taper to the cuff and there are darts shaping the back. Darts also add shape at the front bust and there is a facing around each front and neck edge. The front panels wrap left over right with a 2" / 5cm band at the bottom which continues as a tie each side. There is a small opening in the right side band through which to tuck the tie which can either be tied at the back or wrapped again to the front.
