This 1970's jersey shirt dress was obviously well loved and well worn, despite which, the bold colours and design are still as vibrant as they ever were.
Buttoning down the entire front with small white buttons, the collar has a neat forward pont that sits over a reinforced yoke - the inner collar is slightly marked by age but in good condition.
This dress was presumably cast off as it had some stains and the right underarm was torn. My job is to repair and restore vintage if at all possible and this dress deserved another lease of life. I have repaired the underarm with a dark denim patch over which I've added sashiko style stitching to make a feature of the repair - it could never have been disguised.
Over the main stain areas I have attached denim patched with similar stitching to compliment the dress pattern and colours. In a couple of other areas I've overstitched with white cotton to further disguise the stain. I have done my utmost to keep this beautiful dress in circulation adding a little bit of wearable art that you can display like a living gallery.
This dress can be the opening sentence to a new story, it tells it's own tale.
