Horrockses Fashions carry that much sought after Royal approval on their label, By Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen Dressmakers which makes this dress so extra special.
I have a few designs on this label, not all of them are in such pristine condition as this beauty. The polyester fabric is of it's time but, will wash easily, is silky soft to the touch and has a little stretch in it. Whats more the colours are still as vibrant as even - and it requires hardly any ironing.
The long sleeves taper to the cuff where they fasten with a loop and fabric covered button. The back of the dress fastens with its original zipper in good working order and the neck edge also has a loop and fabric covered button. Below this is a keyhole split below the neck which sits just above the bust line. 
The bodice has an empire line and is nicely tailoredfront and back and the skirt falls in a sweeping A-line.
It really is a gorgeous piece of vintage that carries a collectors label, a dress to be treasured.
