I recall my Nan having a variety of these dresses. Back in the days when pinafores were slipped on whenever a household chore beckoned, the housecoat was the next step up, a coverall that looked like a dress. This example from 70s Marks & Spencer has unfortunately suffered some staining. The discolouration isn't immediately noticeable as it blends into the pattern which is why I've chosen to list (if it's not snapped up it will retire to upcycling). Priced accordingly.
The cotton is a decent weight and the bold orange pattern a glance back in history when bold was better. The small orange plastic buttons fasten from the V neck of the collar to the hem. There is some tailoring at the bust and at some point it appears to have had a belt although the loops have been removed. The short sleeves are cuffed.
