I love a Chelsea Girl find, not least because I grew up in the decades that this brand was on the high street. Before it's closure in 1988, Chelsea Girl was a go-to shop for the young fashionista on a budget as their range was on trend at a price available to the masses.
This soft knitted tank dress is extra special as it has a dedicated Christmas label which names it as a Christmas Cracker! Imagine how many fashion followers had this on their Christmas list, I'm so pleased this one survived the party season and made it through the next forty years virtually unscathed.
The wool mix is synthetic with plenty of stretch and the weave is black with gold rayon thread giving it that glitter effect. There's a low scoop front and even lower back and the armholes are also fairly revealing which was the style and not due to stretch.
The dress is a straight pencil design with a small ribbed hem.
It really has aged well both stylistically and physically, a lovely find for someone's Christmas stocking.
Underarm to underarm 16.5" / 42cm
Shoulder to shoulder 14.5" / 37cm
Armhole width 8.75" / 22cm
Across hips 16" / 41
Shoulder to hem 47.5" / 120.5cm
There is a good degree of stretch across the dress.
Please take the time to check out my other items, new stock added daily - give my shop a follow to keep up to date with what's new, thanks.
