This gorgeous summer frock comes from French designer label Pret a Porter and the label states design by Manet. It's possibly older than the 1980s but as that was when the first store arrived in this country, I've stuck with the 80s as it's age.
Made from a cotton broderie anglaise, the tiers of the skirt are divided by lace panels which can also be found edging the sleeves and neck line. There are short sleeves sitting underneath that lovely flounced collar with fully elasticate neck line enabling the dress to be worn off the shoulder if preferred. Fastening at the back with its original zipper in good working order, there is a hook and eye fastener at the top.
When this dress arrived with me I discovered a few stains on the neck flounce and skirt. It would have been possible to dye the dress but I chose to applique over the affected areas. I used fabric from a 1970s blouse backed with interfacing.
The label also states 5 - 6. I'm presuming that this is a continental size guide as the dress - although small, would be too large for a child. I have supplied measurements and would estimate this fitting a UK size 8 comfortably.

Underarm to underarm 16.5" / 42cm
Shoulder to shoulder 15" / 38cm with elastication
Sleeve length from elastic to frill hem 11" / 28cm
Underarm 5" / 12.5cm
Across waist 12" / 30.5cm
Top of zip to hem 40.5" / 102cm
