It states 'Wearable Art' and there's no doubt this jacket with it's vivid colours and bold design paints a gorgeous picture!
The American fashion designer and costumier, Bob Mackie had the tag line Dare to be Noticed and since his career started in 1961 has dressed some of the biggest Hollywood names, most notably designing costumes for Cher's TV show and tours. He launched the Wearable Art collection in the 1990s and this jacket is one of his well known pieces.
This particular jacket is in pristine condition, the colours still jump out and there are no flaws.
Zip fastening with a strong zipper bearing the Bob Mackie name, the cut of the jacket has a slight swing finishing at hip length. The sleeves are also roomy with a wider than normal cuff and finish short at the wrist. Running the length of the outer sleeve from shoulder to cuff there is a black tape that draws out the black elements of the floral design which is in pink, gold, purple and white set on a salmon pink background. The fabric itself is 97% cotton with a small amount of elastine giving the jacket a slight stretch.
The two most important features of course are the roomy pockets that blend into the design, who doesn't love a good pocket!
