I'm getting fewer 1950s dresses in now which I expect is a sign of the drowing number of years since that style decade. This then, is a real treasure - and it's in great condition!
In a light polyester fabric, the different shades of blue and white combine to make a busy floral print. Three quarter sleeves finish with a wide cuff and the dress buttons down the front below a small lapel style collar. The lower two buttons have been replaced with similar buttons which doesn;t detract from the overall design. A narrow blue belt is attached by small loops around the waist and the skirt front has two box pleats either side. The skirt back also has darts and panels shaping it into a lovely full style.
The bodice of the dress is nicely tailored at the front back, shoulders and bust giving a flattering silhouette.
It is a beautiful example of 1950s design, feminine and yet practical as well as wonderfully stylish even today.Measurements:
